Chinese Name: 戰箭頭 (Zhàn Jiàntóu)
Also known as: The War Arrowhead
The Zhàn Jiàntóu—or War Arrowhead—was the standard battlefield projectile tip of the Qing dynasty and remains the most commonly preserved arrowhead type in both museum and private collections.
Its signature feature is a tang-mounted, triangular iron head with a long, narrow neck—an elegant yet efficient design, optimized for deep penetration and maximum durability. Unlike ornate or ceremonial arrowheads, the Zhàn Jiàntóu was utilitarian and mass-produced, issued widely to Bannermen and regular Qing military units.
When fired from the powerful Manchu war bow, this arrowhead unleashed formidable kinetic energy—capable of piercing armor, shields, and disabling enemy personnel with deadly precision at range. It was a true workhorse of Qing warfare, relied upon in countless campaigns across imperial China.
Today, the Zhàn Jiàntóu stands as a symbol of military pragmatism and Qing-era martial discipline, bridging craftsmanship with battlefield efficacy.
